Rihanna came to the US as a teenager to fulfill her dreams. She quickly earned a record deal after doing performances. As a pop and R&B singer she switches back and forth between the two different genera’s. In 2005 she released her album, Music of the Sun. Although the album seemed low key - one song was not ‘’Pon De Replay’’ was her biggest hit in that Album. Months later, she released her 2nd studio album ‘’A girl like me’’ and this made her on the top 5 (the albums chart show). Two years latter she released another album called "good girl gone bad’’. I think this was the transition album for her because she changed from a disney type of a singer to an MTV artist. Her 4th and 5th album are even more mature than "girl gone bad". Rihanna’s Album “Rated R” features many songs and verities. The songs are upbeat music make you want to dance, relax, and enjoy life -with her random lyrics and angry words you can feel the carefree attitude and listen to the events that have made her that way. This album caused a lot of criticism for her due to her wearing skimpy clothing ( barbed wires and see through dress) and having sexual lyrics. This made her on headlines of gossip magazines and twitter trends- between the wardrobe, concerts, and controversies she has become famous and when that happened more people started listening to her music and that tells us she will be around for along time. Even though It was hard to believe our "innocent" islander was singing songs that had inappropriate meanings we managed to adapt to her change from a good girl to a "bad girl". Her two latest Albums are "rated R" and "Loud". Both these Albums have descriptive titles because "rated R" is like a rated R movie due to the language and sexual content. "Loud" had songs that make your heart beat faster than it should. Although her music lyrics has taken a drastic chance one theme is evident in all of Rihsnna'ss music, Most of what she sings are indirect. You have to reinterprets the lyrics and try to understand what it means. That to me is good because young adults and teens who are mostly ladies listen to her songs and it's a great time for us to over analyze something. I love watching you grow up as an artist and a person, keep up the crazy, fun, musical, poetic, interesting music Rihanna!
