Scotty McCreery is a country artist that got his start on American Idol. His first album, Clear as Day, gives listeners ample waves of emotion as they go from one song to the next. Some of his songs have more of a country pop feel that is easy going and fun to listen to. On his album there are songs like: “I Love you This Big,” “Write your Number on my Hand,” and “The Trouble with Girls.” Each of these songs has a light and upbeat feel to them. Most of his songs explain the wonders, complications, and happiness of relationships and being young. On the other hand there are songs on the album that are not so upbeat. Song on the album like “Clear as Day,” “Dirty Dishes,” and “That Old King James,” are dismal. They all have good story lines behind them, but are very somber. An artist that is very similar to Scotty McCreery is Josh Turner. They both have very deep, country voices that sound very similar. They both also have good meaningful song lyrics. The lyrics that catch you off guard are the most meaningful. In the song “Clear as Day,” he is singing about a young love. Then all of a sudden he sings “Last thing you said is I’ll call you tomorrow/ That’s a call you never got to make/They blamed it on the fog and pouring rain/And that nights still clear as day.” These were memorable to me because they were very emotionally sang and were unexpected when you first hear the song. For the most part I agree with the critics. He is a young artist that has a deep voice and a lot of talent. He has become the most successful winner of American Idol since David Cook. His overall personality and music style have won over a large group of people. Overall, listening to Scotty McCreery is well worth your time and money. He is very talented and never disappoints. His wide range of talents is what attracts his fans and keeps him acquiring new fans. I would definitely recommend listening to some of his music and see for yourself.
