Miley Cyrus
The teen sensation, Miley Cyrus is well known for her alter-ego Disney character, Hannah Montana. With her 2008 album Breakout, Miley shows off her talents singing to a mixture of genres including, pop, country and rock songs. Throughout the album as listeners, we hear her frustrations of being a teenager and things that teenagers deal with in life such as friends, family, relationships and life in general. With this album, Miley is compared to the Canadian punk pop artist, Avril Lavigne who discusses the same issues in the same tone and attitude in her music. Ms. Cyrus is also compared to Shania Twain a country singer who mixes rock with her songs, which is what Miley did in her song “7 Things” that, is flirty and fun that expresses life issues. In the Breakout album, the popular song “Fly on the Wall” describes a controlling boyfriend and the song “Wake up America” is being called one of the catchiest moments that discuss a world issue about saving the environment. In my opinion, the critics review did not give Miley enough credit on her success of this album saying, “Breakout isn’t as much of a breakthrough as it could be.” Though keep in mind, when the Breakout album was releases, Miley Cyrus was only 15 years old and in that same year she appeared in several movies such as Bolt. She was also keeping busy filming her hit Disney television shows, Hannah Montana. In that year she was also very busy traveling on tour and performing in sold out concerts around the country. In my opinion, it would be worth your time if you definitely purchased the 2008 album Breakout by Miley Cyrus and added it to your music collection due to her talent and the hard work she displays in her TV show, music and life in general.
