Carrie Underwood
I would have to agree with Fartun’s blog post about Carrie Underwood. Carrie Underwood is definitely worth the time and money to listen to because her lyrics and songs tell a story about everyday life. Like Fartun said in her blog post, Carrie evokes a variety of emotions to her audience. To go more in depth, emotions such as grief, love, sadness, happiness, loneliness, and anger are just some examples of emotion that Carrie Underwood is able to portray in her music. In the song “Just a Dream,” Carrie tells a story about grief when a woman becomes a widow after losing her husband in the war and is hoping that she everything is a dream. From the lyrics, “Then they handed her a folded up flag and she help on to all she had left of him” I concluded that a woman lost her husband to the war because in the military, family members who have lost a loved one in the war are given a folded up flag as an honor. The song “Before He Cheats” has an emotion of revenge as Fartun said in her blog. In the music video, Carrie Underwood seeks revenge on her cheating boyfriend by doing terrible things to his truck. The RollingStone rate Carrie Underwood with 4 ½ stars saying she has emerged out of her shell since American Idol. She has won five Grammy Awards, fourteen Billboard Music Awards, along with forty-two other awards for her music. These awards must say something about how well her music is. Carrie Underwood is now known as the new Faith Hill in today generation. She is the girl next door she is able to belt out emotions through her music as Faith Hill use to. In the country music world, many artists are able tell a story through their music, but they sure are not able to make their audience feel a variety of emotions as Carrie Underwood does.
