Response to Hailley T2
I agree with Hailley’s opinion, for the most part. I would most definitely say that Nickelback’s music has definitely spread like wild fire, but, I would consider them closer to Metal than Pop, since you hear them more often on Z ROCK then KROC. I also agree with comparing them to AC/DC and Metallica, I won’t agree to the last since I’ve never listen to them before. I also agree to the fact that they do sing of things that the public would consider inappropriate, like strippers, sluts, and porn stars. Though I have not listened to the entire new album you mentioned in your blog, I have listened to, and own, All The Right Reasons, and Silver Side Up, and they also do the same as their new album. The song “If Everyone Cared” invokes the same message as “If Today Your Last Day”. The CDs I own also show the same emotions as the newer one, the raunchy destructive behavior and the original power ballads along with those few mellow songs. I agree that their originality makes them stand out compared to what is played on the radio, but compared to some bands; they still remain original, but don’t stand out as much. A few bands I listen to, like Epica and older stuff from Nightwish for example, have female lead singers, who have training as opera singers. Though it’s quiet rude to compare them to Simone and Tarja, since the two fall into the category of Symphonic Metal, where as Nickelback is more of Rock than anything else. I also agree that it should be owned by anyone who has good music taste, which is the most opinionated statement ever, simply because of the messages within their songs and for the fact that they are influential to upcoming rock bands.
