Scarface (1983) Brian De Palma.
The plot of the movie is a Cuban deportee named Tony Montana living in Miami. He gets in to the mob business, because he wants to live the American Dream. The movie is mostly about Tony Montana, and how is accomplishes it, but also how he loses it all in the end. Al Pacino played as Tony Montana, and he performed this role great. I can’t see any other actor playing a Gangster as good as Al Pacino. The traits Al Pacino gave to Tony Montana were perfect. He gave Tony Montana the motivation to make fast money and the ambition for power. He gave Tony Montana the guts and intelligence of a gangster who wants to move up in life quickly. Another character in the movie is Tony’s cokehead trophy wife Elvira. Tony Montana tries to win her from his mob boss. She is probably a big reason why Tony Montana gained power. He convinced her to be with him, and he killed his mob boss. Killing him he gained power and turf in Miami. The theme of the movie is that organized crime is going to make you fall at the end. Having all the money and power is for awhile, but sooner or later you’re going to lose it all to someone else who wants to take it from you. Many critics did not like the movie, because of the dialogue and heavy violence it has in it. I strongly disagree with their opinion of the movie. Scarface has a lot of lessons for people about organized crime, if you look deeply in the movie. Besides having lessons in the movie, it is also very entertaining. If you like gangster movies with drama and action, then you will love Scarface. This movie is definitely worth your time and money to see. Why, because it is a very entertaining movie and you will enjoy the plot and dialogue of the movie.
