The lyric is obviously about how he can find a hole in your optimism and that everything isn’t always wonderful. I very much enjoy though picking apart the lyrics to find the underline meaning of that because he literally didn’t mean he was going to point out where the rain can come through the sun.
Whether it is his lyrics about just wanting to feel alive, to be more whole again, or finding that special someone he is connecting with hearts across the globe.
