Long.Live.A$AP is A$AP Rocky’s debut album which was released on January 15, 2013. Currently, Rocky is my fifth favorite rapper. Rocky isn’t the most lyrically rapper but with each mixtape and album his rhymes get deeper and more meaningful. Long.Live.A$AP is the album that made him mainstream because this is the album that showed people that this kid from Harlem has something to say. Along with all the acknowledgement Rocky is receiving he is also getting a lot of hate from people and critics. Tom Barnes from PolicyMic said that in “F***in’ Problems” the chorus is whack. He didn’t like how the writers made the song interesting by making each rapper have a section and then finish each other’s dim witted sentences. I agree and disagree with Tom. I agree because I would rather see each artist finish there bars before moving on to the next artist. I disagree because I still like the song and I think it’s one the of the better songs on the album. F***in’ Problems is also the song that introduced me to A$AP Rocky. Overall Long.Live.A$AP was a really good album. Many different sources like DJ Booth said Rocky stepped up his word play from his early albums and mixtapes. Compared to Kendrick Lamar’s album good kid M.A.A.D. city, I would easlly go with Kendrick. Even though Rocky turned up his lyricism, Kendrick is still way better then him. Kendrick is able to tell a story within his album which I didn’t see in Rocky’s album. Hopefully A$AP Rocky will be able to go to Kendrick and receive advice and help on his next album to make it even better.
