Despite all the criticism she receives, Miley Cyrus is a true artist. She has explored many genres of music, from country to hip hop. Her most recent album Bangerz, she dives into a hip hop/pop feel as her new look takes over. Bangerz has many different emotions from a party carefree feel, like in her songs “We Can’t Stop” and “4x4,” to a heartbreaking and bitter feel, like in her songs “Wrecking Ball” and “Drive.” Miley finds her inspiration for her music and style through her idol, Brittney Spears. She and Brittney have the same types of carefree music and song choices. They both sing of having fun and partying and they both belong to the pop music genre. And although they are very similar, Miley Cyrus adds different twists to her songs by adding featured artists and her own country spin. Her lyrics are very relatable, powerful and some are just good fun. I very strongly disagree with the critics who consider her music to only promote provocative dancing and partying because; it’s so much more than that. Nick Catucci, who reviewed her new album Bangerz for Entertainment Weekly, said it’s “immodest” which I believe isn’t as much of a bad thing that Catucci thinks. Bangerz is her raw and wild story of her coming into her own and moving on. Miley is not trying to over sexualize herself but is expressing her raw emotions. For anyone who hasn’t experienced her new album, Bangerz, I strongly recommend it. It is inspiring and relatable and just good fun. Miley Cyrus is a true artist despite the criticism she receives. Her talents show strongly in her music and performances. She is lively and her positive attitude is contagious when listening to her music. She really came out into her own with her new album, Bangerz.
