The words used by Keatton to describe the legendary rapper Eminem resonate true. Listeners of Eminem can hear through his lyrics the troubled childhood he went through. Sometimes it can be hard to fathom how difficult Eminem’s childhood actually was because it seems through his lyrics that it was the hardest time of his life. Like Keatton mentioned, Eminem’s music is a way that allows him to vent his anger. Rather than actually doing the violent acts described in his songs, he raps about them. His release is through his music. This action can be influential for teenagers today. From looking at Eminem as a role model they can realize that there are other forms of stress release besides violence. Eminem’s music is also different than that of the up-and-coming rappers. Eminem’s music does not feature the usual money and drug theme but rather the stories of hardship and success. For this reason his music resounds deeper with listeners. Eminem can also be looked at as a role model even outside of his musical talents. Listeners of his music can learn from the path he took of deciding to pursue his goal of being a great father and not focusing on the fortune and fame of being a rapper. Sometimes a person needs to take a step back and focus on what is truly important in life.
