The double platinum award winning artist Rihanna sings a variety of genres like r&b, pop, rap, and etc. Rihanna was last promoting her 7th album unapologetic (mainly pop)which hit the billboard hot 200 and sold over 238,000 copies in its first week. It became Rihanna's first number one album on the chart and best-selling debut week of her career. The album also became the singer's third, fourth and fifth consecutive number one album in the United Kingdom, Norway and Switzerland. As of May 2013, Unapologetic has sold over three million copies worldwide. It also won a Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2014 ceremony. The album really gives you a feel of love and pain by her lyrics and sometimes the tone changes in her voice / music when she is singing from happy to angry. When I hear a gunshot go off in one of her songs it makes me wonder why she chose that type of violence to portray in her music. The emotions that are evoked in each and every album is clear and sometimes just by the album name like unapologetic which came out around the time Chris brown physically abused her so we just know that it is about true love and the betray she feels. Then in the album good girl gone bad is just filled with the delinquent and naughty type of feel because she kinda shows her innocence in one lyric than switches off to a very bad girl type of lyric by the tone of her voice. I can honestly compare her to drake but the male version because he shows his soft side in his music and it just seems like he would know how to treat a girl right. Sometimes he talks about a female hurting him in some type of way emotionally which than brings out the pain and then switches off to an angry side and says things like he wouldn’t need her and etc. Rihanna and Niki Minaj are probably two different types of singers because Niki’s songs are mostly rap and hyped. It’s the type to party to and not listen to after a break up. The song birthday cake which Chris brown also sings in collaboration with Rihanna is very memorable because it is so inappropriate and talks about what they would pretty much do to each other and a major reason it’s very memorable is because after the physical altercation between the 2 they were able to come up with something like this which is just mind blowing after what they went through. Another memorable song would have to be Disturbia because it’s creepy and disturbing and her ex Chris brown wrote the song for her. She also performed this song to open the 2008 MTV video music awards. I agree with the other critics opinions because they believe she is as fabulous as her music. Overall I believe she is worth the money because each and every one of her albums shows different emotions and if you’re feeling a certain way you can get one of her CDs to relate which is always nice because people nowadays relate through the music and feel like we aren’t the only ones going through something like a heart break.
