In the movie The Dark Knight, Batman (Christian Bale) has met a new villain in Gotham named The Joker (Heath Ledger). The joker is a sociopath that wreaks havoc on the city without a motive, “just to watch the world burn”. Batman is fighting with Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) the DA who is determined to bring down organized crime to an end. Also Batman isn’t just battling the joker, the joker teamed up with a number of mobs and has control over some of the staff within the police department. Batman must overcome these odds, and save Gotham while keeping his identity hidden, before innocent lives are killed. Harvey is the White Knight of Gotham, a symbol of hope to the people, however the Joker knows this and attempts to turn him…. In this twisted film that has veered far from the comic book, the actors and actresses have done a spectacular job on acting, especially the late Heath Ledger. Who frightened everyone at how dark one person could be, definitely showed the true meaning of terror. Christian Bale played an outstanding Batman, he followed the saying “sometimes the good guys have to do bad things to make the bad guys pay”. The theme in this movie is psychology. Throughout the movie the Joker thinks that deep down everyone is evil, and is determined to prove that he is right. Many critics think this movie is far from the comic book and I agree with them; the comic is nowhere near as dark as the movie, and no as in depth either. Critics also agree that it’s very twisted and dark and no really suitable for children. I’m with them again on this one because children younger than the age of 12 are too innocent to be watching something as dark as this. However overall the movie got great views all around, and received numerous awards, and is one of my favorite movies. Worth the money!
